NCI Licence Status Summary

This page provides an overview of current software licence usage for all licences that are able to be used on NCI's HPC and cloud facilities. Whenever a user requests software using the -lsoftware flag in PBS, or uses software that requires a licence, it will be reflected in the data on this page. The 'Total Seats' column displays how many licence seats each feature has. The 'Seats Used' column displays the sum of the licences seats requested in PBS jobs and the licences seats used on NCI facilities, as well as external facilities. The status page will attempt to match licence checkouts to jobs running on NCI facilities. Hovering the mouse over the 'Seats Used' value will display the breakdown between requested and used licences, as well as NCI usage and external usage. Hovering the mouse over the values in the 'Seats Available' column displays a graph of the availability of that licence feature over the past 24 hours.

Using this page

The 'Seats Used' column tooltip breaks down licence feature usage by NCI/external facility, and requested and used licence features. The definition of each field in the tooltip is as follows:

At times, there may appear to be a discrepancy between the availability graphs and the values in the 'Seats Used' and 'Seats Available' columns. This is because the graphs do not take into account -lsoftware PBS requests, and therefore if many jobs are requesting a particular feature, but not using it, the availability displayed in the graph may be higher than that displayed in the 'Seats Available' column. The PBS scheduler itself uses the value in the 'Seats Available' column when making scheduling decisions, as it assumes that job that has requested software will use it imminently.
